Home Away
Longing for a place that was once your home, and is still considered “a home”, but you spend less time as you grow older. A place that stirs nostalgic longing tethered to memories of tan lines, belly laughs, and bike rides.
I began painting this while visiting my childhood home. The layers and textures transport to the quintessential beach day. The smell of sunscreen and the crash of shore waves, close your eyes and take a breath, open them, and find yourself in a place of childhood tranquility.
